Multiple Teams · A Note from the Athletic Department – 11/4/19

Husky Nation,

Winter Sports are here and practices have started for Boys/Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Dance and Cheerleading.  Girls Swimming starts next Monday November 11th, 2019.

We still have two fall teams in postseason play as Soccer takes on Chaminade Tuesday 11/5/19 at DeSmet, 4:30pm and XC will run at the state meet this Saturday 11/9/19.

Parents please mark your calendars for our upcoming seasonal parents meeting.  Winter Sports Parent Night will be next Wednesday 11/13/19 from 5:30pm-7pm We will talk as a department first and then break out into specific teams/groups.

Another important upcoming date is Winter Sports Picture Day which will be Wednesday 11/20/19 immediately after school before practice.  Be sure to pick up an order form from our office ASAP.

Last week we hosted District Volleyball and the girls rose to the occasion! After cruising in the first two matches the Huskies found themselves in a Championship dog fight with Hazelwood Central.  The team went up 1-0 and then stumbled in match 2 and for most of the third match until they mounted an incredible comeback to WIN 25-23.  Volleyball ended their season this weekend in Sectional play at Francis Howell Central against a very talented Columbia Hickman team.

Boys Swimming WON their conference for the second year in a row capping off another great year for the team.  There are some swimmers that are up for state consideration because their times were so good and we are hoping for the best!

XC had two runners qualify for the Sectional meet this past weekend as Joe Kipper was the first Husky to cross the line, taking 23rd place.  Ben Weissler just missed qualifying for State by a few spots after having had one of the best sophomore seasons ever by a Husky cross country runner.  Congratulations to Joe on becoming a 3-time state qualifier, but first in cross country (2 x state qualifier in track).  He will be racing at the state meet this weekend in Columbia and is the first Ritenour XC runner to qualify  in 7 years!

Football ended their season on the road vs. Webster Groves on Friday night at Moss Field.  It was a tough loss for the Huskies but there is a silver lining to this season as the team will return all but three players next year.  This group dealt with adversity and learned a lot about themselves.  The off-season is going to be huge for the team as they hit the weight room and work on individual skill.

End of Season Feedback surveys were emailed out to parents today so please check your inbox and help us gather information on the fall. The deadline to complete the survey is Monday 11/11/19 at 10am.

Banquets are right around the corner as well so reach out to your coaches and mark your calendars to help us celebrate our athletes!

A reminder to students in Academic Support, you will attend study sessions after school from 3-4pm before going to practice. Students will start a new session this week with IPR #3 which will run from 11/4/19-11/24/19.  Please note there will be NO Academic Support the week of Thanksgiving.

(Example of Athletic Eligibility Card)

Winter Sports is here and started Monday November 4th, 2019.
