Multiple Teams · A Note from the Athletic Department – 2/7/20

Husky Nation,

Weather impacted us again this week but the forecast didn’t hold up to expectations and we only missed one day of competition.

Wrestling Senior Night was cancelled Wednesday because of that weather and unfortunately the meet can not be rescheduled due to it being the end of the season with Girls Districts starting this weekend.  With that being said we still wanted to recognize our Seniors on a great season.  Congratulations to Anthony Chrun, Sean Neal, Marion Anderson, Juzaya Scott along with managers Roxann Rivera and Anna Kunz!

Both Basketball Teams were busy this week on Tuesday as Boys hosted Lafayette and the Girls were on the Road at Seckman.  It was a good crowd at Costilow and the boys played well.  It was an even match going into half but a late run by the Lancers in the end of the third quarter proved costly as the Huskies failed to come back for the win.  Either way it was a great night of basketball and our teams played to the end.

Thursday night it was the Girls who hosted Fox in a hard fought game.  After getting out to an early lead the Girls struggled to find their stride as the Warriors press and transition game caused a lot of turnovers.  The Girls program is young, without a senior on the team this year, and if they commit to improvement they are going to catch a lot of people off guard in the years to come.

Boys Basketball is on the road tonight, Friday 2/7/20, at Hazelwood Central – 4/4/5:30pm.

For Basketball, we know it’s hard to make every game so stay up to date with LIVE SCORING at (HOME GAMES ONLY)from Cositolow Field House.

The highlight of the week though without question was Girls Swimming as they owned the pool and dominated the Conference Meet at U-City to take home the championship.  All-Conference for Girls Swim has been released and we couldn’t be more proud of how this program represent Husky Nation this Winter Season.  CONGRATS GIRLS SWIM!!!

Another huge accomplishment came out of the pool as Senior Swimmer Alyssa Lane broke the school record at the Conference Meet in the 100M Breaststroke.  A well deserved accomplishment and just a sign of things to come as she looks to swim in college.

Friday February 21st will be SENIOR Night for Boys Basketball, Cheerleading and Dance.  This will be the last Senior Night for the Winter Season and for the Class of 2020.
