This year’s Clayton-Ladue Invite at St. Vincent Park was a scorcher with temperatures hovering in the mid 90’s but it didn’t stop the Husky cross country team from performing well and collecting some hardware.
In the Varsity Men’s race Sophmore Ben Weissler grabbed his first top-10 finish of his Varsity career, finishing 7th in a time of 18:17 against a strong field that contained Ladue, Clayton, Chaminade, CBC and a host of other local schools.
The JV Boys raced well in the warm temps bring home 3 medals led by Amirion Saffold’s top-20 finish, Amirion took 15th place in a time of 20:57. He was followed by medalists Dublin Collins and Hudson Delacruz. Rounding out the top 5 was Santonio Resonno and Kendrick Canup. The JV team took 7th out of 13 teams in the race.
The JV women were last to start but certainly not least as they had 3 medalists themselves, including 2 top-20 finishes, led by Jazmine Brevik’s 11th place finish (26:22) and Reina Richmond’s 18th place finish (27:15). Adriana Guttierez also medaled for the women crossing the line in 38th place. The top 5 was rounded out by Azariah Estes and Morgan VanMeter. The women took 5 of 7 teams with 141 points.
Next week the Huskies will tackle the hills of Sioux Passage at the Paul Enke Invitational on Saturday, September 21st at 9 a.m.
