Welcome to the Husky Nation!
RHS Speech & Debate has grown teachers, politicians, engineers, state and national champions -- come join our proud tradition!
SPEECH AND DEBATE
Our team practices speaking, listening, acting, arguing, researching, and thinking. Competitions take place in St. Louis and beyond, as we travel within Missouri and the US for state & national tournaments. No experience is required -- come to practice and find out what events will fit you.

Coach Profiles:
Coach Melly competed with RHS Debate as a student, and is proud to have returned as part of the coaching staff. Her favorite events are Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Duo Interpretation: she loves watching arguments on deep questions, but also loves being entertained by short plays.
Coach Hanser also graduated from Ritenour, and is happy to have joined the team as an assistant coach. Humorous Interpretation is her favorite event to watch, because she enjoys how "into it" the performers get: everyone is laughing along with the actors, even the competition!
Coach Becherer may not have graduated from Ritenour, but she still bleeds black & orange. Comedy and public speaking are her top events to watch because of the emotions and feelings that go into each performance. "Everyone chooses topics from the heart," which means they have incredible emotions. Though she's only watched a little bit of Policy Debate, she is amazed at how much the event means to competitors at a young age. "It's like listening to a bunch of (really talented) politicians."
